Student Leadership Workshops - Open Seats

There are still spots open in the Leadership Academy being run by Dr. Erick Lauber in co-operation with the Center for Student Life. The academy meets Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-4:45pm in Davis Hall (the Journalism Dept).  Undergraduate or graduate students involved in leadership positions on campus, or hoping to obtain a leadership position someday, are encouraged to apply. There is no cost to the student to attend the academy and usually there are coffee and donuts.  Certification will be available upon graduation from the academy in April.

HOMECOMING Alumni Workshops and Presentations

The Department of Theater and Dance is offering workshops and special classroom presentations by alumni who are returning to campus for Homecoming 2012.  Kyle and Jessica Payne ('03), and Phil Chavira ('06) will present on various topics of preparing for "life after IUP."  Also, special guest Phil Keeling ('05) is performing his stand-up comedy act at the Kovalchik Center on Friday, October 5 at 8:00pm. (See their bios at the end of this document).  These presenters will also be available for one-on-one discussions or coaching.

English majors: interested in an internship?

If so, please come to a brief workshop on April 5 (a Thursday) at 6:15 in Nicholson Library.  We will explain the finer points of finding an internship site, as well as what is involved in earning credit for your internship.  Light refreshments will be provided.

The format of the GMAT will be changing in June.  Find out about the format of the new test, how it differs from the current test, how to study for the GMAT, and how to do your best on test day. The session is led by a certified Princeton Review instructor.

New Library Resource: Sage Research Methods Online

IUP Libraries has licensed a new research database, Sage Research Methods Online (SRMO). SRMO can be accessed both on and off campus. It is available 24/7 to all students and faculty with a valid IUP I-Card. Watch for a workshop in late March or early April 2012 to help you get the most out of this resource!

The IUP Writing Center and the English Department are offering free and open workshops on Wednesday evenings in 218 Eicher Hall.

Wednesday, Feb. 22: Revising Your Research Paper to Flow Smoothly
Once you've got the sources, you still have to fit them in with your own ideas and get everything to flow together. This workshop will help you do that.

Wednesday, Feb. 29: Proofreading Your Paper
Do you have trouble seeing grammar and punctuation mistake's in your writing (like the one in this sentence)? Maybe you're using the wrong strategy when you read. This workshop will show you how to find errors and correct them.

Wednesday, March 7: Using Prezi to Create Dynamic Presentations
PowerPoint can be easy to use but it gets boring quickly. Prezi is a dynamic, easy-to-use alternative. This workshop will show you how to impress your audience with an eye-catching presentation.
