IUP Web Team Internship Available

We have a Federal Work Study opening for a student worker here on the web team in the IUP Communications Office. It's a really great resume-building opportunity for students interested in a career in publishing, especially web publishing.  Ideally, we're looking for a sophomore or junior who can commit to the position for at least a year.

Summer Employment and Internship Fair

The IUP Career Development Center is sponsoring the 14th annual Summer Employment & Internship Fair next week on Thursday, February 21 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the HUB Ohio Room.

The SEIF provides students with an opportunity to meet with employers who are hiring for summer, part-time, temporary, and internship positions.  Please check out http://www.iup.edu/page.aspx?id=87999 for more information.  Currently there are 39 registered employers, and the list can be found at http://www.iup.edu/page.aspx?id=65819. The employers include summer camps, retail, sales, financial services and social services.

Road Trips to the Real World - Career Exploration and Networking

We are pleased to present this year's "Road Trips to the Real World" program -- a series of employer site visits for your students during the winter break, January 2-11, 2013. 

Online registration for students begins at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5 and ends Friday, November 30!

On the EACE website you'll find a promotional flyer and customizable postcards to promote this program! Spots fill up VERY quickly for some of the more popular sites, so please get the word out as soon as you can and tell your students to register early for the best selection.


Telecounseling Federal Work Study Job Opportunity

Telecounselors are ambassadors for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the university. These students are responsible for contacting prospective students to relay important information, answer questions regarding campus life and the admissions process, as well as help with the anxieties and concerns of both parents and students to the best of their ability. In addition, telecounselors are a resource for prospective students in the college selection and application process. The telecounseling process provides a human touch for prospective students, something more than information in the mail.
If you are in the Honors College, have federal work study and are interested in working as the Honors College Community Service Student Coordinator please email a letter of interest to kevinb@iup.edu.  Letters that make the best case for skills, motivation and fit for this position will be considered for an interview.

Primary Job Skills/Duties Include:

Data Processing  -The entry of submitted service hours and freshman workshop participation.  This is mostly online work so hours are flexible and convenient.

Communication -  Email communication with CHC students about service requirements and progress toward the required minimum. 

Program Delivery - Assisting in the planning and possibly the implementation of Wednesday Workshop sessions. (You do not have to be available on Wednesdays from 11:15 AM - 12:05 PM in the fall semester).

Applicants must be willing to work at least 8-10 hours per week and must anticipate qualifying for FEDERAL WORK STUDY for the 2012-13 academic year.  Applicants must also be on campus both semesters next year.  This is a minimum wage position.

The Animal Rescue League Wildlife Center in Pittsburgh is seeking students who are interested in working as rehabilitation assistants.   We are a fully licensed wildlife rehabilitation center that treats over 2,000 animals per year.  Our mission is to release healthy animals back into the wild.

Work Study at Commuity Guidance Center

This position was not filled this academic year, so if you are interested you have a good chance. CGC provides a wide range of mental health and mental retardation services to the community.  They also provide volunteer opportunities.
