IUP Stapleton Library would like to hold an Earth Day used book sale on Friday April 19th from 9 to 6 pm. We would like to have volunteers to set up Thursday evening (April 18) between 5 and 7 pm and to staff the sales desk and keep books organized between 9-11 am and 2-6 pm. (A student organization will be staffing the desk between 11 and 2.

If you are interested, please contact mcdevitt@iup.edu and sign up for specific times that would be great.

All money raised will go into a fund and students who participated will have the opportunity to contribute to the decision on what to spend the money on.

The Mock Trial Club will have its first meeting of the semester on Tuesday, February 19, at 4:30 p.m. in 164 Keith Hall, directly following the meeting of the Pre-Law Society, which is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

The mission of the Mock Trial Club is to participate in and support mock trial competitions and tournaments, gain a basic education of trial techniques and strategies, and develop an appreciation and general knowledge of the American legal system.

Hello Everyone!

It is time for the first Sigma Tau Delta meeting of the semester! Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 18th at 6:30pm in the Leonard Lounge. In similar fashion, our meetings for the rest of the semester will be at the same time on Tuesdays at the same place. I look forward to this semester and all the things that we are planning. If you know anyone in the major that might be interested, please bring them along! We are always looking for new members!

The Conversation Club, sponsored by the Office of International Education, matches international students with American partners in an effort to promote global awareness, multicultural interaction, diversity, and friendship.

This program is not available during the summer.

Interested in a safe place where you can share your experiences of living in a straight
world?

The group is an all-inclusive place where students who are questioning their sexual or gender identity or identify as LGBTQ+ can turn for confidential sharing and support.  The group is designed to be a safe space where concerns related to exploring sexuality, coming out, relationships, families, community, can all be discussed. Students do not need to be "out" in order to participate in this group, or have a firm sexual or gender identity.

If you receive an invitation to join a national honor society, it's in your best interest to check it out prior to cutting that annual or lifetime membership fee. 

The Association of College Honors Societies is a professional organization that lists college honors organizations.   Their website http://www.achsnatl.org/ is a good place to assess the legitimacy and value of an honors society.
 
Be sure it is a legitimate organization that provides real services to its members.  Good honors societies have member benefits like scholarship opportunities and active campus chapters.  Honor societies in name alone may serve as a line item on your resume, but they won't provide an opportunity for meaningful involvement in the advancement of organizational goals, leadership opportunities or networking opportunities. 

Any honors college student is welcome to join our club which focuses on community
service, new students to the RECHC, and strengthening the Whitmyre community through fun activities.  We're the group that organizes Thesis Snacks, Winter Formal, and Freshmen Orientation.   If you would like to play a part in these activities you need to be in the club.
 
 We also help with the prospective student overnighters which many of you have attended and are always looking for new ideas to make these events fun and appealing to the high school students.   Being in Honors Connection is a great way to earn service hours.  We will be
volunteering at a nursing home within the next few weeks, are working with a community group called Healing Hearts, and you even earn hours by coming to meetings to help plan all of these activities! 

Please join us Wednesday, Nov. 10th at 9:15pm in the painting room at Whitmyre.  Hope to see you there!
