Kinds of Fieldwork/Primary Research

  1. Interview - person who considersa themself a citizen journalist
  • What can we do with fieldwork? we can gather the information to create a working research based upon the material collected from the sources i.e. comprise a public poll, where the people can select from a series of questions. It is important to note the impact of the syntax of the posed question. The question(s)  asked may be biased, which would in turn alter the outcome of the survey.
  • Advantages? opinions would be based upon the public, the people, and the specific representation of the demographic being studied/researched. It makes the work more interesting, legitimate, and personal.
  • Practical considerations? non-biased question posing approach

How to integrate fieldwork and secondary sources?

  • confirm an established point
  • add nuance, particular details, or a concrete illustration
  • extend or get local insights
